the U bolt to the chain plate that the rigging attaches to.

Are they a production part? if so who makes them?

or are they a custom fabrication?

I have some that have been replaced and they were the wrong size and seem to be bent in so they fit. All a bit shabby and I want to replace them.

Rob the original U bolts might have been Riley's or Fico or similar. Ronstan do make them but they might be slightly different . I do know through experience ,metric and imperial plays a bit of a problem with sizes even these days .

Hi Rob,

Just had a look at your pictures for the Flemming installation and your 'U' bolts look like the standard MkII/III issue to me.

They do have an industrial look I must admit but they really are good things.

They have rolled threads (which is good) and the one I removed last year from Tales showed no sign of corrosion at all.

Can you post a pic?

Cheers,

Tom

you can see the bent one on the left in the second picture, it is a M10 (metric) the original ones are 3/8 whitworth. about 52mm centre to centre. The Uppers are about 102mm centre to centre. All of them are made on the same angle to suit the rig.

Yeah, you're right mate, it's a ring-in.

There is another thread about 'U'bolts on this site (see below) and Mark had some spares available.

Cheers,

Tom
