Toe Rail Repair

Anyone got any ideas on how to repair this, which is pretty much all the way around the boat. Its not leaking.
Would I just grind out all the loose stuff, then epoxy in long, thin strips of woven matting, then flowcoat over it?
Repair will be done on the mooring.

Another photo.
There is a Rub Rail just below the top of the toe rail, so I wasn't thinking of putting any more timber on the toe-rail to cover the hull/deck joint.

Quite a bit of work there Shaun. Depends how good you want it to look. You could mix up some west system two pot with the thickening powder and putty it in which would be a good solid fix. Using fiberglass matting would be a more difficult job(I used to make surfboards). Or bog it up with an auto body filler and put a timber toe rail which would look the best. Just need to take it back to a sound base like you said . PITA job on a mooring

Finally got around to completing this repair!
Was a lot more time consuming than I thought it would be, didn't help doing it on the mooring, holding onto the boat with one hand and working with the other!
You was right Frank, using cloth didn't work, too many air bubbles left behind it, so I ripped it out before it set. Used Bote-Cote epoxy mixed with their easy-sanding filler, then painted 2 coats of 2 pack undercoat, & 2 coats of Norglass 2 pack top coat.

Nice work Shaun.

I was interested to see that the toe rail is a different design to the one on Windchaser. Her toerail is a profiled piece which is proud of the surface like your rubrail.

Does your toerail have any drainage holes?

Hi Louis,
There was no scuppers in the lip, & water used to pool near the sheet winches. So I ground out a big V at the lowest point, packed the void with Bote-Cote epoxy fairing compound.
Now the side decks are as dry as a bone, should have done it years ago. Also cut out the timber under the scupper so it doesn't rot.
