Have been trying to repair my st2000+, anyway took it to the boat to test it, batteries pretty much flat, took a look at the wiring...Oh Mr Hart, what a mess!!!

Decided I need to re-do the wiring....whether it needed it or not
Started from the smaller solar panel, installed the 10watt panel, have always just had "floating" panels, moving them up on deck when I was onboard, its not working, istalled the 10 watt'er on the pushpit, this is the 3rd yacht Ive had & all have had "floating" solar panels, this feels great to have one permanently fixed. Will sort out a posi for a 40watt, maybe on a simple SS post attached to pushpit.

I Just went sailing

I almost went for a sail yesterday but a friend came by the mooring when I was setting Stormy up, convinced me there was too little wind and suggested we go for a spin in his high speed runabout instead. We went from Pretty Beach to Cottage Point in under 20 minutes (It takes me about 3 hours to sail down there) and enjoyed a beer on the deck of the General Store overlooking the bay and discussing the various merits of the moored boats, which included a nice mk1 toppy and a very well set up Arends 33. I guess power boats are OK if you just want to get there but the journey is a lot more enjoyable under sail.

Seaka's Refit.

Well I'm getting there. I have finished 99% of the painting inside and I'm starting on sorting out the wiring.
Moving a couple of radios and installing a AIS receiver.
I've put in a steaming/deck light and port/star/stern lights for when I'm steaming, this all means I have to rearrange the switch board.
Have to fix the boom also and finish installing the reefing gear.

Then is just a clean and polish.

Phil it looks fantastic, those beams in the foredeck are reasuring to see not all tophats have them just like it should be will give you heaps of confidence when coming across the bight mate

Slipping week last week for Storm Petrel. She was pretty clean after 18 months - not a single barnacle. (I have been keeping the propspeed clean on my folding offset prop from the comfort of the cockpit via the outboard cut out. Sure beats diving)

Jobs done:

One coat of Altec No5
New cutless bearing (motoring a lot more smoothly now)
Check the rudder bolts and keel shoe pins (all sound though lower bearing on rudder will need replacement next year )
Cut hole in top of ply cover above infill for outboard cutout and fitted a large waterproof inspection hatch to produce a useful lazerette in the cockpit.

On the way back to the mooring the leather boot on the end of the port spreader fell apart - so that is the next job........

Sounds like you have been very busy Mark, did you have any trouble getting it fone? What was involved i have to do my soon

Frankly got around to figuring out why the galley pump wasn't pumping too well.

The hose was very blocked with flakes of old gelcoat that had flaked off the underside of the floor, or the top of the tank..... There was bare ply, mould and moss and short of cutting out the floor and re- doing it completely was pretty too far gone to keep the tank useful. It would also leak about 20 litres into the bilge when you filled it.

So after removing the hose that went to the pump and realizing I couldn't get a new hose back in without cutting many more holes in the floor/tank top, I opted for a Plastimo 100 Litre bladder tank. I also added a deck filler to the step just near the companionway ladder. I didn't want to cut a hole outside in the deck, so opted for just inside the door. Works well, but I don't have any way of telling how much water I have, and it doesn't hold 100 litres, perhaps 60 at best? Anyway, the pump, a 12 gallon per minute electric jobbie is now doing its thing very well. Might add another under the berth for extra storage if this ken works out as advertised.

Well I'm getting there.

This week I completed re-installing all the electrics, apart from a couple of items like the anchor light.
which didn't work, so looks like a trip up the mast is scheduled to see why.
Only have to get an expert to connect the AIS to the chartplotter and the chartplotter to the VHF radio.
Sorted out some small problems with the rigging, all Ok now.

Little or no wind this Tuesday so that's when the boom will go back on, needs new bolts as it will now be fixed.
Have to raise the mainsail to get the correct boom position.

When that's sorted I'll touch up all the new paint work, install the new cabin floor covering, polish the topsides and bring all the gear back!
