Well Bear, its no problem getting the boat on the Ferry but I can't take the dinghy or they'll charge me for a trailer. :o

Btw they charge $10 to take your tow bar.

I like the idea of a club. Mark, do you have a contact at any of the Newport clubs?

Bayview, Winneremery Bay/Rowland Reserve is OK, but you can't use the moorings there, and you can't anchor in the bay either. Further, the pontoon has a time limit of 15 minutes to load and unload only. So that would be out.

McCarrs Creek is nice, and has similar facilities and you can use moorings and anchor near the pontoon.

HRYC is also a good choice, but rafting there is tricky when the tide is running hard.

All weekends in November are OK, but for the 16th.

Hi Michael,

I don't have any contacts with Pittwater clubs, but have some at the CYC, Gosford YC and the HRYC. I think Pittwater would be better and I will give the RMYC and the RPAYC marinas a ring tomorrow and see what they can offer for us in late November. Late November might tempt Greg and Bear down from Lake Maquarie.

How many boats do you think might be involved? I suspect 4-6?

Cheers,
Mark

How about a lunch at the RMYC in late November? I rang them and they will get back to me with some dates. They could accommodate boats wanting to stay over and give us some day berths while we had lunch. More importantly it is accessible by road so Greg will not get shipwrecked.

Could you please indicate your interest to see if it is worth proceeding.

Thanks,
Mark

Brad if it is just you Michael and me, we might as well meet at the Basin, but if we get a crowd we could go to a yacht club (RMYC or GosfordYC).

The last race I tried to organize at the HRYC for Top hats was fun but not well supported with only 2 starters and I am not confident of getting too many more at the next Sail Away. There are a lot of Top Hats out there but not many are sailed regularly.

Cheers

Hi Mark ,

It would be nice if Forum Members / Owners in Sydney , got behind this annual event . As we have a great pastime in TH Sailing , that should be supported in this way .

How about we make it lunch on Sunday the 17th of November in Pittwater? Raft up at the Basin about 12-2pm and a cruise in campany(race) around Lion Island and back in the afternoon for anyone interested? This gives everyone plenty of notice. What do you think?

Cheers,
Mark

Sounds OK Mark. Got a wedding on the 16th, so may only be able to make the Sunday on that weekend.

Surely with this much notice we can get some Sydneysiders up from the Harbour and one or to from further afield, to make it worth an overnighter?
