What I did or planned for my Top Hat today!

Well today I have to THANK John [Longdeepthinker] who slaved away for me all day out in the sun on Seaka's side decks. :D

THANK YOU JOHN

It took the two of us all day to remove two side tracks and two short tracks at Seaka's stern.
In addition we freed the bolts to two stanchions.

So, I have a bit of fibreglassing to do as I discovered a second set of bolt holes for two previous tracks and I have to plug the holes from the short tracks.
Now the problem is that the old track holes have only been bogged up, so I will have to remove all the bog and re fibreglass up the holes.
That solves half the water leak problems and the other half will be solved when I reseat the tracks.

That means a one day job has just become a three day JOB

That's all I did today. 8-)

Remind me to never hire you to Amigo's on an hourly rate to do a job!

I took mine out sailing yesterday, got my head blown off when the wind went South West, got soaked motoring back from the Basin and replaced a screw on one of the toe rails.

She went up on the slip today, a bit more growth than originally thought, but mainly on the keel. Will be very fast on Monday!

Then I'll re-build the scuppers so water doesn't collect near the winches. They were blocked at sime stage when the toe rails were fitted. I'll probably flush out the main water tank too, she's a bit grubby after not being used much for four months.

Oh Shaun,

For us old fellows with all our experience we gotta charge you young fellows $110 per hour if you want us to work for you

Today I resealed, with fibreglass, all the old track bolt holes plus the bolt holes to the seven bits of old deck gear I'm replacing.
Tomorrow I'm on standby for local fires [we have had a few here around Taree over the last couple of days] with my RFS Brigade or I may fly as an RFS Air Observer.
Sunday I will do the stanchions and clean up todays work.
That leaves me with one more day, Shaun, to reseat the jib tracks. :D

So, I'm on plan. :D :D

Spoke to my sailmaker today and discovered that Seaka's sail set up is not up to speed.
So it's back to the drawing board to replan. The result will mean a simpler more easily used system.
Phillip.

Got a new mooring closer to the beach.
Yay!!!!

Oh and last weekend cooked lobster with butter, lemon and garlic.
Savoured it and washed down with a bottle of MOET.
Whilst under the stars in Jerusalem Bay.
The phosphorescence in the water was spectacular.
The brightest I have ever seen.

Ahhhh

Much more fun than maintenance. '

Ahhhhh

Yachts are to be enjoyed.

Too much maintenance makes a sailor far too dull.

Did nothing again this week on Storm Petrel but had an almost lovely sail the afternoon. Spoilt by taking out an old mate who got sick as a dog an hour out from Barrenjoey. It was a bloody long beat back Brisbane Waters into a strong Northerly and a crew member hanging over the life lines. Motion sickness is horrible and I thank heavens that I do not suffer from it. Is there anything I could have done for my buddy?? I had seasickness pills in my first aid kit but he could not keep them down. He said he had not got seasick before so I didn't offer him any medication before we left.
