Phillip,

The deck-hull join and chain plates are similar to other Mk11s I have seen. The previous owner did update the chainplates, to very strong custom made units built from thick stainless plate, but I have the old ones and they are standard Top Hat U-bolt style. Storm Petrel also has the standard Mk11A flow-coated f/glass internals in the v-birth section but the rest of the boat is fitted out in timber(see the pictures in the gallery). The fit out is quite good quality and I suspect it would have cost more than the standard f/glass furniture. I had assumed it was sold with the deck bonded and front furniture in place by choice so the owner(probably a shipwright or cabinet maker) could do a custom timber fit out to his own specs.

As well as the increased headroom, the starboard birth is longer (almost 7ft) than the births on other Top Hats I have seen. Perhaps the first owner was a tall chap like me? One of the reasons I bought Stormy when I was looking at Top Hats was the good headroom and extra long 'captain's bunk'; she seemed to be made for me.

Cheers,
Mark

We guessed that Wild Rose was a Mk2 by the year of build but had been advertised for some time (two owners) as a Mk3. She is one of the kit built that was talked about in this post. When I found this out I had her surveyed with this in mind. "Built well" was the reply. Next time I will photo the cabin for you Shaun.
