Replacing cleats

Replacing cleats

Postby rodfor » Tue Apr 02, 2013 6:33 am

Hi all
I want to replace the cleats on the roof of the coach house with jammers but not sure how to secure them , the cleats are fixed just with self tappers but I don't think this would be strong enough and with the roof lining there seems to be no way of any other fixings . Any suggestions would be appreciated

Cheers

Hi Rod,
Tales has 6 jammers (2 x 3) on the cabin top.
They are mounted with 1/4" screws with big washers and nuts.
The headliner is cut away locally and a varnished plywood cover fitted to the headliner with short self tappers.
I had some nice thin (3mm) Birch aviation ply but some kind of plastic sheet might be just as good.
Cheers,
Tom
