 A V-Sheet may bring a chopper down, but if everyone wore a very, very loud shirt and a stylish hat, perhaps even a top hat, perhaps it would help?

2009 Top Hat "Sailaway" :D

 Venue: The Basin, Pittwater

 Date: Saturday 31st October 2009 (Ed - Now changed to Sat 7th, Nov)

 Time: Say 2pm (some will be there from midday).

Is the 31st Oct also the start date of the Pittwater to Lord Howe Island Race? :?: so it may be busy?? But will be very interesting to see the yachts that participate in this event, particuarly as there are TopHat members interested in sailing to Lord Howe.

LOL, miker, wear a top hat so we can recognise each other!

This is sounding like too much fun to miss. I will redouble efforts with the wife and crew to see if I can get along!

Hi All
The getaway sounds great, unfortunatly I will be racing to Lord Howe on that day. It was a difficult decision to make  And I'm sure If the wheather get bad i may regret it. I would not be to worried about yacht numbers in broken bay as only 15 yachts are entered due to limited moorings on the island. The main traffic will be from the regular club races held on pittwater. Hope you all have a great day and i'll try to catch up on the next one.
Cheers

Hi all,

I would love to come to the get together in Pittwater but I am busy on weekends to the beginning of November.
I am now sailing solo and would love some hints of how to do this better.

Now the proud owner of an autopilot which is making life easier but still getting used to it.

I am a single lady who has nearly always sailed with a bloke who has been very handy with lines and with more sailing experience than me.
And at this stage am not prepared to sail in the ocean single handedly so even if I was available. I can't at this stage come to Pittwater. (I will be on stage in an amateur pantomime production that weekend)

I am on Sydney Harbour and would love to meet other sailors especially with hints to make sailing solo easier.
Also hints on how to get the anchor up and down without needing big muscles. I have tried to get an electric anchor winch installed but I am told that the cost of reinforcing the foredeck will be prohibitive.

Could we organise a get together on Sydney Harbour?
For Sydney wimps like me.

I have a TopHat MkII

All

Please note that a member has advised that on the planned weekend there will be a gathering of Seawind Catamarans at the basin. They are expecting 35+ cats to attend.

This combined with the start of the lord howe race could see things quite busy! Perhaps an alternative location may be in order?

Cheers

I'm easy, any time or place suits me. I think it should be accessable from shore for those on busy schedules.
