Greg, I'm not sure, but Mark, Di or Denis might know. I seem to recall them mentioning that you can get in there, unless it's really low tide.

Shouldn't be any problems with the public wharf, the ferries get in there.

Here is the link to Palm Beach Ferries. http://www.palmbeachferry.com.au/Home/t ... fault.aspx

There is a bus from Woy Woy to Ettalong, so Bear could get that if you can't get into the Parsely Bay jetty. Then you, or we pick him up from Palm Beach.

We're planning to get there, but it will be later in the arvo and hopefully hanging around until mid morning.

Best place to pick someone up from Brooklyn is from the wharf where they sell fuel.
Plenty of parking, train station, loos, shop for provisioning including cold beer/wine/ice, cafe for a cuppa, piece of cake whilst waiting. Great seafood for sale to take on board or just eat before the boat arrives.

The pontoon in Parsley Bay -is really only suitable at high tide. At least it was the last time I went there, 7 years ago.
It can get very very shallow.

Other places can get bumpy if the conditions are right or wrong depending on your point of view.
I think that is the other pontoon you are talking about.

I find that passengers appreciate the luxury of being picked up at the fuel pontoon.

You can't obviously leave your boat there. But for a quick pick up / drop off it is great.

If the pick up is going to be difficult, I am happy to get Bear from Woy Woy station and drive him down to Pretty Beach(10 minutes) and he can sail across with us on Storm Petrel. This might be easier for all. Let me know Bear if you want to do this.

Cheers,
Mark

Its not a problem.
THanks all, I've been to the fuel wharf at Brooklyn several times and there is no problems. I was just looking around in case there was an easier way. I usually take the hard way.

Thanks Di for confirming that the Parsley Bay pontoon is only useable at High water.
The only problem next is this low forming off the coast.

Look forward to seeing you all at The Basin.

And Greg,

That East Coast Low is looking even nastier from up here.

May be arriving Bear style!

You're more than welcome Phillip.
There is space for 3 onboard.
You and Bear can have the bridal suite!

You might have to snuggle up, its gonna be cold with one port light missing.

There is still over a week yet and so a lot can happen weatherwise. I'm sure it will turn out ok.

Hi all, Sure hope the weather turns good. Adele and I are really looking forward to spending some time at the Basin and catchin up with other Top Hatters. What's the plan, anyone going there on the Friday?
We are thinking of going Sat morning, but might go Friday afternoon.

G'Day John,
My plans are pretty loose. I plan to leave between wed and friday. The weather is not looking good.
I wont have internet on board, just a mobile phone and I'll borrow Bear's semaphore flags :P Yes, I like to keep up with the latest technology

My son Adam (17) has signed up as Spida (skinny hairy legs) and he will relay messages and sms's to the site. (He's a good kid really.)

If the weather and the boat are not right I wont be going but I will be doing my best.

I plan this will be one of many trips to Broken Bay. So we'll probably see you there sometime.

I will call Top Hat yachts on Ch16 VHF to see if anyone is about.

Perfect weather and great sail yesterday afternoon. I hope Saturday week is as good.

We will sail over on Saturday morning and stay for lunch and a lazy afternoon. We will probably sail home late Saturday afternoon/early evening, unless I can convince my motley crew to rug up and stay overnight (My suggestion that an 'overnighter' at the Basin in June would be 'fun', caused a surprising amount of mirth among the crew).

CU there,

Mark

Guys, Quick question??

Is the Basin for the Gather, opposite Gunnamatta Bay and off Simpsons Bay? If so what is the distance between the two?
