Did a mates boat last year at the Gold Coast a Mottle 33 the shipright there came over to us and showed us what he uses it looks like a broom head with a universal joint and velcro on the end for the sand paper to grip it is called a doodle bug, and because of the broom handle it saves your back you keep the the water going on trickle and start rubbing it got years of anti foul off relitivley quickly right back to the gel coat, the thing i have against any kind of blasting is no one will give you a written guarantee how much they will take off, because it is in possible to regulate how far they go it is all on the skill of the operater so not only is it expensive but you have to except some of the good stuff will come off

Hey Rob, sounds like a great plan to me! :D
A man has to have a plan, and a boat.

Drop in at the Lake on the way round. You'd be most welcome.

Rob will you please refrain from posting comments like sailing to the Whitsundays.
The jealousy from the rest of us is intolerable.

Sounds like a great trip.
I would be interested in all your modifications for such a trip.

Are you going solo or with crew?

AIS transceiver, Fleming vanegear , LED hella tricolour masthead light new solar panels bigger battery bank maybe an Ampair Aquaair charger if I have any money left. And I'll see how that goes for now.

Rob,

What size solar panel are you looking at and how many amp hours have you in your house batteries?

Have a look at the wind turbines on e-bay before you buy in Aus.

Hi Phillip,
I have 2 x 20w panels and am getting a pair of 80ah batteries I have no other means of charging as yet. My current system is half this size and is only good for a few days running. I have been thinking I'd putting a alternator from the wreckers on a frame with an old brush cutter engine I have for emergency but that sounds like to much trouble. I checked out eBay and they do have some cheap wind generators eh. I'll do my sums when I have all my kit installed and see what it will take to maintain.

Rob,

I don't think 40watts is enough. I will try to get my usage calculated before the weekend but I'm thinking that nearer 100watts will be required.
