Port Phillip get together.

Postby Tales » Fri Aug 05, 2011 2:05 pm

As there are a few of us in Port Phillip Bay, is anyone interested in getting together sometime?

Perhaps lunch up at Royal's or overnight at Docklands (for all-weather venues)?

Cheers,

Tom

Are we treacherous dogs who occasionally frequent this forum, but wantonly sail other craft (eg Compass 28) welcome?

How does Sunday 25th Sept at Ferguson St., pier sound to everyone?

If the weather does not co-operate we can drive up and have lunch somewhere in Williamstown.

Cheers,

Tom

Ok, we have 6 starters so far,

Stardust
Bonnie Lass
Sombrero
Wayward Lady
Walu
Tales

Plan is to sail to Ferguson St Pier about 10-12 o'clock (25th Sept) and have lunch onboard or nearby.

If the weather is not nice, sail or drive up and have a meal at a reasonably priced eating place (thanks John - Sombrero).

For those interested in seeing a retracting outboard motor set up (in well) there will be 2 examples, Bonnie Lass and Sombrero.

You can contact me on Ch16 Tales or 0419 161 201

See you there,

Tom

Hi Dori,

Too-Di-Loo from St Kilda and Felissity from Sandringham (Locki) are planning to come along as well.

We rafted up outside Felissity at Apollo Bay in 2009 with her former owner so it will be good to see her again and to meet Locki.

Port Phillip Top Hatters and Lockie!

Weather for tomorrow looks good and a nice breeze.

We may have to raft up so bring plenty of fenders and warps (barge board for pier).

Consider rafting opposite direction to the inside boat to off-set your spreaders and standing rigging as an occasional wave will come through from the ships in the river.

Probably eat at the boats but neaby "Hobson's Choice" has a very nice selection of cakes etc and makes good coffee for after.

See you there!

Tom

What a day! The weather was sunny with light wind and six Top Hats came up to Ferguson Street Pier in Hobson’s Bay, Port Phillip.

Bonnie Lass, Toodiloo, Wayward Lady, Walu, Sombrero and Tales all made it with apologies from Stardust, but they did come up by car to join in the fun.

We all had a great time. Lots to eat and drink and, of course, a good yarn.

Thanks everyone for coming and making it such a great day!

All the best,
Tom

Looks like a great event, sorry I missed it. My humble apologies for being a no-show (SWMBO had other plans).

Hopefully next time,
