G'Day all,

Work permitting I hope to make this event and meet up with everyone.

Yes Bear, I dont think Greg will be turning in by 8pm.

Lake Macquarie is a great spot, and worth a visit.

Cheers, Wayne

Bear!
What have you done? I went away for 2 days, put you in charge, and look what's happened.

Re Norah Hd weather station, be cautious because the anemometer is on a 10m mast in front of about a 30m hill facing out to the NE. and it's located NW of the light house. Anything from the S through to the west is not accurate. You may be able to see it as you travel up the coast.

Whilst on cautionary notes, be aware that there are sharks in Lake Mac, hammer heads on the northern section and Bullsharks in the southern section especially near the power stations.
Blue ringed octopusses (Pie) are around the Cold Tea Ck and LMYC under rocks.
Razor clams are in abundance at all the southern Lake beaches. The top sticks out of the sand about 100 mm and if you tread on them they can cut feet to the bone. See the article below.
http://www.newcastlestar.com.au/news/lo ... 40011.aspx
But on the bright side, there are many recipes for cooking them.

But apart from that its a really nice place!

Best of luck,everyone.
I'm not responsible.
For more information see Bear.
 Greg.

Greg, you crack me up. For some one who's not organising anything and intending to be in bed by 8pm.

It looks like Mark, Storm Petrel has been kyboshed by other events and won't be making it, but my plans are coming together nicely.

The weather is looking favourable indeed, and barring any major changes, i'll be slipping the mooring somewhere around 0330 Friday morning, with a view to being on a mooring or anchorage somewhere Friday afternoon. May even stay at Mark's Point that night to meet Gabi in the car, then sail around looking for other Top Hats Saturday.

You won't miss Dulcamara, the lettering is a foot high on each side. Will be standing by on 16 and have the mobile on, PM if you want it, for those that don't have it.

See you there!

Mike,
I know the Dulcamara, Felicite is a look alike in green.

Some time ago I raised a post about contacting other Top Hats on radio and it was suggested that you call "Top Hat Top Hats, this is "my boat name" on CH 16 VHF and then go to Ch 73 to pass the info.
I similarly have 16 on most of the time.
I'll look for you, and any others on Friday.
Greg.

Perfect sail down to Whale Beach and back this afternoon - you wouldn't be dead for quids.

Sadly due to circumstances beyond my control (and not related to the boat, which is raring to go) Storm Petrel will be unable to travel North this weekend. Shame, because the wind prediction for Friday through Sunday looks perfect for the trip. Perhaps we will catch up at the HRYC Top Hat Regatta in November? We just need to talk Denis into organising another one.

Cheers,
Mark

There's no nasties in the north of the lake. just Bears.

Phillip, we'll set up a chair for you at the sailaway. I'm sure we're all looking forward to catching up in person to hear some of the tales, tall and true.

Mark, sorry you can't make it, any chance you can drive up on the saturday night anyway?

Greg.
