Hi Tom, I was busy writing a summary of the Alan Lucas article, with a heavy bias toward the Top Hat part, when all my hard work vanished from the screen. I searched for it but could not find it. What was news to me was the connection between Ian and Jan Mitchell "Caprice" Circumnavigation 1974 and Jamie Mitchell "Possibilities" circumnavigation 1999. Now, why didn't I realise before that they were related. No wonder he liked Top Hats! He grew up on one!

Alan Mucas has a photo of "Osprey", Ian and Jan Mitchells boat departing Yamba on Page 280 of his "Cruising the NSW Coast".
Wouldn't it be funny if Alan Lucas appeared at the sailaway? I think he lives on the Central Coast.
