Curly wouldn't miss it for the world! Will see if we can fine tune our rigging in time !!!
for all who have not yet been to a rally - it's definitely worth the effort to get there.

Would love to get involved this time, and no work commitments on the horizon.
So Tails is in.
Never raced before, so be gentle! ;)

G'Day all,
I'd love to race but I'm racing a laser this year at that time at Belmont 16s. I'll be thinking of youse (sic) and I hope you have a great time. Wish I could go.
Greg.

Hi All

A problem the Starter/Finisher had last event was recognising the yachts as they crossed the finish line.
To eliminate the problem this time...
All yachts participating should have Sail Numbers in accordance with YA 4.01

Hi Dennis,

How do we go about getting a number? I am not that keen on having to join Yachting Aust. and having to pay them for a number. Is this the only way?

How about we just allocate numbers to those participating and ensure they are on the boat and visible at the finish (eg a cardboard sign on the topsides or tied to life lines)

Cheers,
Mark

G'Day, when we raced with the RMYC we just took our own elapsed times and the time of the boat in front and the one behind and sorted it out from there. We filled in a declaration form and if there was an error, as sometimes there was, it was rectified easily. This takes the pressure off the finisher organiser and if there is a protest it is settled with a beer.
For what its worth.
Greg.

Denis, it may be easier to make sure everyone has their yacht's name emblazoned on the side! I was going to remove this, but it seems now that it may come in handy :-)

I must admit that even with my bad eyesite I can see Dulcamara from a long way off.

I know that some, who do not wish to get a sail number from YA, use the Hull Serial Number in their yachts HIN (Hull Identification Number) which should be unique to that Make/Model of yacht.

I reckon that Greg's idea is a good one. (reduces the expenses)

The colour penants we used last time didn't work too well.

Open to more suggestions

just another idea

for a one-off race, we could get the vinyl stick-on numeral stickers (available from whitworths etc) and place on our mainsails. They're only a couple of bucks and would suffice for the purpose

if we've got 10 or so boats, one set of stickers should be sufficient

thoughts?
