Bowsprit / Bow Roller

Hi All

I am looking for a bit of inspiration at the moment.

I have a wooden bowsprit on our mark 3, that I am looking to have professionally replaced.

I am looking at purchasing something like that in the following link

But would really like to know what others have done that they are really happy with... it is quite a big job given the forestay currently attaches to the bowsprit also.

Hi Karl,
I had to do significant work in this area after a small bump on the bows last year.
Removal of the original fitting revealed poor fibreglass layup and rotting wood within.
I looked around the marina and coppied a bowroller design which gave good sideways security as well as taking headstay loads and fullfilling bowroller duty.
Happy to supply more details if needed.
Planning to round it off a bit inkeeping with the style of the boat.

Thanks Tom - did you get the bracket made, or was it something off the shelf?

I am looking for something wider to accomodate two thick mooring lines and am curious to learn what arrangements everyone else has... I have a bowsprit at the moment that is a foot or so in front of the bow - great for ramming charter boats -- "charter boat, what charter boat?"

Hi Karl,
I had the bracket made.
I could find nothing off the shelf suitable.
The design I used could be made suitable for 2 mooring lines by adding another cheek plate on the opposite side.
