Denis,

Oh well..........I really would have preferred the low calorie ginger beer, I guess the rather nice looking bottle of chardonnay will have to do. I did question the results on the night with Mark, unfortunately his crew had consumed the ginger beer and had nothing left to trade, I will donate the bottle back to HRYC for next time.....nah, how bout we share it after the next race Denis.

Great weekend Denis, well organised, an absolute credit to you

Postby SeaLady » Tue Mar 23, 2010 1:11 pm

Dennis,

I now have a mooring in the Hawkesbury and would like to become a member of HRYC, and be invovled in the Ladies Day. I have tried to ring the number on the website and send emails but the emails are bouncing back.
Can you help?

Diana

Great news.
Just fill in the HRYC membership form and bring it along on the Ladies Race day (Saturday 3rd April...1330 Start, from you know where).
I'll let Brian the HRYC Treasure know and who knows, because your a lady, he might give you a membership discount

Denis

PS: I'll give you details on the Whisker Pole arrangement when I see you at Easter, or do you want the info earlier?

The Top Hat events get better & better… :D

 A HUGE Thank-you to Denis for organising the weekend, obviously a lot of time went into the details & it was very much apprieciated!!

Also thanks to the other members of HRYC who were there(lovely people), they helped with the race, catering etc, & sailed their own yachts in the race. What a great set-up the HRYC is!, built stronger than a brick….outhouse.

Night Cap moored at America’s Bay on the fri night, I underestimated the time required to get to the start line  , as I motored sailed up to Brooklyn I could see the yachts preparing to start, it was obvious I wouldn’t make the start, I radioed Mij’a to see if I could just tag onto the back of the fleet as they sailed past…Denis said sure, but he also said “try to go across the start line if you can, shaun”, & I’m so glad I did go across the start line.
It was clear the yachts were now racing, but I couldnt hear the starters gun.
I turned off the engine & gybed around the starting buoy, it was only then I realised that I had to sail to windward..how do you do that again?? :)
Thought to myself, I would be coming last if I started on time, so now..excellent ive got the perfect excuse for coming last.
Anyway rounded second last at the first mark, & was totally chuffed with the awesome 2nd place medallion.
The catering was great, just what the Dr ordered after a few days of make-do meals from my galley!,
All the boats from the first get-together were there(except for Dulcamara), & it was good fun to see them again, it would have been great to have caught up with Michael & Gabi, but at least all the boats went home with the same amount of kitchen utensils as they started the weekend with ;) …no tongs etc went for swim  !!
Dan & the beautiful bride Kate, you would of won the Sunday Observation Rally, but you missed a Std marker, there were 4. Fantastic to meet you both, & put a face to the many emails i have exchanged with Dan over the last year or so.
We had a swim & lovely Sunday lunch at Refuge Bay, thanks to all the boats for that in particular Curly Tops for the very nice rolls & salad, then Sonia & Ally backed it up by doing all the washing up!!, does it get any better than that?!
Also good to meet Mark on his very well kept Storm Petrel, & his motley crew Jacko & Jake. And also very nice to finally meet Tom on Alley Oop, who was also one of the very first members of the Top Hat owners group.

cheers

Hey Shaun, I'll have you know that I now have a lanyard attached to each piece of cooking utensil I need when I barbecue.... no more excuses. If Sonia ever puts in her claim, I'm happy to replace hers..... :D

Sorry we couldn't be there, we were on a motorcycle "regatta" to Huskisson.... Bad timing is all.

We'll be out on Pittwater at Easter if anyone's about, we'll monitor Ch16.

Hi All

The Hawkesbury River Yacht Club has a 'Ladies Race' on Saturday 3rd April starting at 1330hrs from the HRYC barge followed by a BBQ on the Barge.
If you are on the Hawkesbury over Easter why not come along, you are all more than welcome.
The 'Ladies Race' just requires that the Skipper for the majority of the race be a female :D
Bad luck guys..no dressing up. :o

Dan

I agree start a new thread.

HRYC - Ladies Race - Sat 3rd April - 1330hrs Start

All Top Hats welcome (must have a lady skipper)

The fee for any one race is $15. It can be paid on the day at the after race BBQ on the Barge (BBQ cost $10/head)

However for full HRYC membership at this late stage in the club year, a new member can join now for the remaining 2 months as part of the 2010/2011 year fee (to be paid now).
This means that the $15 Ladies Race fee is wavered.
