UPGRADING ELECTRICS ON WAYWARD LADY

Postby KJD13 » Sat Jan 20, 2024 12:53 pm

Hi Toppies, I am about to commence the upgrading of the electrics on "The Lady" and was wondering if anyone as attached the front navigational lights to the cabin sides rather than fitting on either side of the pulpit or a single bow multi light? I have read several articles wherein the owner of yachts have elected to fit these to save his/her genoa from getting caught on the side lights on the pulpit when tacking. I figure that the wiring would also be much simpler.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Won't lights on the cabin sides be hidden behind the genoa as soon as the boat heels?

As the navigational lights are for steaming purposes only (mast head lights for sailing) it shouldn't matter if the genoa covers the side lights. I will also be placing a white light on the mast, amd adding a white light aastern, for steaming purposes.
Cheers,
Kevin
