2pm Sunday 25th June Inaugural Social Sailing Meet and greet

Postby SeaLady » Sat Jun 17, 2017 11:07 am

Hi all. Things are progressing and Social Sailing on Lake Macquarie is a happening thing.
We have our inaugural Meet and Greet at RMYC Toronto 2pm Sunday 25th June 2017.

As of typing this we have 14 boats and 12 non boat owning people wanting to crew expressing interest.

If you want to be included in the event emails please let me know preferably via:

socialsailing@rmyctoronto.com.au

Also
https://www.facebook.com/socialsailinglakemacquarie/
https://www.rmyctoronto.com.au/social-sailing/

May I put a link from both of these pages to this forum of Lake Macquarie Hatters?

I am still a novice at all this but am pleasantly amazed at how well this is going and it certainly looks like being a happening thing.

Happy sailing.

Diana

Social Sailing Feedback

Postby SeaLady » Thu Jun 29, 2017 1:57 pm

As of writing this RMYC Toronto have 20 boat owners and 14 non boat owning people interested in social sailing.
Women, men, singles, couples, ages from 20's-70's.

I took one woman out on Saturday for a sail on "Sea Lady"- she brought steaks, salads, strawberries and wine.
During the day she raised the main and lowered the main, furled and unfurled the jib, pulled on sheets, tied mooring lines, cooked the bbq lunch and did the dishes.
She had never before been on a sailing boat, wants to come again and buy her own sailing boat.
A win for everyone/

The inaugural meet and greet had 6 boat owners and 6 crew attend.

www.rmyctoronto.com.au now has a new website and it looks like Social Sailing is a happening thing.
Thank you for permission to use the photos. It helped.

That is totally awesome, Di. Well done!

Nice to hear of a non-boating person becoming keen.

With the success you are having, maybe you should start thinking about raising some interest in a Top Hat Sydney to Hobart group of entries.
