Unusual Rudder/Keel

Unusual Rudder/Keel

There is a modified Mk2 for sale in Grafton:

The aft end of the keel appears to have been cut back, a new skeg created, and a transom mounted rudder added. No doubt it is more manouverable, and maybe points higher. Extra room in the cockpit too. Anyone seen this boat before?

Well spotted, Ian. I had seen the advert but didn't notice the changed rudder.

I don't know the boat.

With the tiller further back it would give a bit of extra space in the cockpit, which would be nice . However when I had Windchaser, in rough weather motoring I could stand and hold onto the coachroof/mainsail traveller area (above companionway) and steer so if the tiller were further back, it would mean I would need to be further back and I am not sure what I would hang onto. The original position of the tiller was quite a safe position. Anyone else hang on to the coachroof?
