Hi Di,
After a bit of searching I found the document that will explain it all.
The graph is taken from the pamphlet.

The pamphlet can be downloaded from;
http://www.livinglakemacquarie.org/file ... hannel.pdf

I hope it all makes sense.
Greg.

Ps next time you come up to the lake you must drop in to Belmont South.

Be really careful of Tuggerah Reef, its just off The Entrance about 5miles to sea from memory.

Have fun enjoy the trip.

Greg.

Greg, I could look at the charts I suppose but....Is Tuggerah Reef real!??, cant find anything near 5 miles off The Entrance on Google Earth. Got co-ordinates?
Or is it just another cunning rouse to scare the Sydney-siders off coming Nth of Broken Bay?

Gday Shaun,
I don't have a chart near me but a search shows Tuggerah Reef at 33°21.92S 151°32.076E. Sounds about right.

It breaks in a reasonable swell. It's a Lot closer than 5 miles maybe one or two, sorry.

Good one Di!,
The forecast looks pretty good for a quick trip.
The sooner the Southerly front comes through this evening the better it will be for you tomorrow, I reckon.
I'd be staying in a nice protected anchorage tonight (where you don't have to bash into any S'therly's before you get out to sea). I'm not sure but The Basin should be good, wouldn't it?. I'd also be putting in my reefs this arvo.
Have a good sail, photos please 8-) or even a video!! 8-) 8-)
Cheers, wish I was going sailing this weekend

Sea Lady is in her new home in Lake Macquarie

Thank you Shaun

Yes, spent overnight in The Basin.
7 hours sailing, head to head.

The wind dropped so low we had to motor part of the way.

BUT.... THE WAVES!!!!!

I am officially a wimp.

My body told me to be terrified.
Dry mouth and throat feeling like sand paper.
Was sipping water all the way.

When most scared a pod of 4 dolphins turned up and played around Sea Lady for about 30 mins.
Which I considered to be a good omen and calmed down .....a bit.

Dave kept telling me that the seas were not that big.
I relaxed when fully in the lake.

My shower cubicle at home was rocking.

Looking forward to some pleasure sailing and exploring sheltered waters.
And perhaps a Lake Mac Top Hat get together?????

You intrepid ocean sailors who like big seas can keep it to yourselves.

HI DI '

I said you had to go through hell to reach paradise so

" WELCOME TO YACHTIE HEAVEN "

Oh !! forgot to tell you Lake Mac does get a little choppy over 15kts . but the good news is ? you don't need your mainsail any more as Lake Mac yachties only use furling headsails :D The bar wasn't that hard now ,was it ?
So welcome to Lake Macquarie and I will look for you and vise versa .I'm moored in Croudace Bay ,Valentine

Cheers Bear
