Hi all,

The fireworks were brilliant on NYE. I watched them from Lavender Bay. Much less crowded than the eastern side of the harbour.

Was also on Sydney Harbour for NYE (and a bit over a week all up). Was brilliant, though we were anchored in Athol Bay near Taronga Zoo. Didn't see any other Tophat 25's in athol bay (though saw lots of fabulous 35-50 footers, one day....), but did have my burgee flying proudly - thanks again Phil.

Interestingly, a fellow rowed up about 5pm and identified himself as the previous owner of Topknot for over a decade until two years ago. Has now purchased a Tophat 32. Was interesting to get the history of the boat and to share a drink on our boat and later, on his.

Great sail home on 2 January - no dolphins but a seal about 3 metres off the bow. Storm made things interesting mid afternoon when all visibility was lost but wife calm and GPS a godsend. Dont' know how I went coastal without one!

Unfortunately the bloke who brought the 'Top Hat 32" did not in fact buy a Top Hat.
Top Hats were only built as 25 and 27 footers. See the main pages for further information.

Sounds like you really enjoyed your trip home. I just spent a pleasant 2 days on board,
will now have to recover from the sun burns .
