Anyone know this boat?

Hi All,

A good friend of mine is looking for a Top Hat and has come across a MK3, called Whimbrei (advertised on ensign.com.au). It looks good and the price seems right. It is in Hardy's Bay. Interestingly it has mainsail furled in the mast??? Any thoughts on marine surveyors in the area and where to slip for a survey. Look forward as always to your comments.

Nice boat.

Just one word of warning, this boat was built before 1986 and not in 1988.

Why, well the last Top Hat was built in 1986 and this is not her!

I note Palegian went on eBay for $4550, which really is incredibly cheap for a sea ready yacht.

I would have thought Pelegian was worth at maybe 3x that so someone has got a totally amazing bargain.

Well as fate would have it Pelagian didn't sell on eBay, for all that I spent a week cancelling nuisance bids, the top bidder apologised saying his kids kept bidding after he went to bed... Auction cancelled. At the moment it seems Pelagian is being bought by a guy who lives round Gosford way. Of course I'm happy to help him sail it to the next mooring sometime early in December.
