Not much progress today, I guess the wind has gone to the south again.

Crikey, this leg of the journey is like a Never-Ending-Story! I guess it must feel that way to Rob. Another day, another umpteen zigzags on the ocean, another mile or so gained. At least he is making progress, it is just taking time.

Just got an sms from Rob's mother,

"motoring into Dampier get there late no spotme"

[Spotme is how we know where Rob is from 2 posts a day.]

Rob must have had to get within a certain distance [fuel wise] so he could motor in.

Well that was a leg and a half. Guess it would feel nice having that finished and some nice still water to anchor in. And be able to sleep.

Epic effort. I'm keen to hear how Sundowner compared against Cynecia (bilge keeler) in those conditions.

According to the WA Cruising guidebook there may be some tidal assistance on the next leg to North West Cape -- 1-2kt SW current on the ebb -- through the Mary Anne Passage, at least as far as Onslow. Of course that probably means wind against tide :?

Dude that was big, constant 15-20kt right on the nose. I was getting about 75km per day under the keel and about 30 a day towards my waypoint. I keep thinking it cAnt get any harder and then it does. This is not the right time of year to be heading south on the west coast. Just think of how nice a weekend sail around western port will be after this. The boat is wet inside now, I have water coming in somewhere and it's filling the locker. I'll make doe though. Some chaffing issues, not bad. I've had tidal assistance all the way but the trouble with that is after 6 hours it's against you. so tidal effects don't really come into play when you do 24hrs Fk I'm glad to be here and have a rest.
cheers guys
