Frank,

Best to just do a web search for boat transport in Vic. then request a quote.

This is not something we all do, in fact very very few of us ever do it once!

Thanks Phillip, It was just a thought that some of you lucky owners may have shipped one from somewhere. All of you people up north really do have it good up that way, so many day hops along the coast. Cheers Frank

Hi Frank, some years ago I contacted a handful of companies that moved boats but never ended up going ahead with it. Some of the companies proved very helpful so I think it is well worthwhile making inquiries. Overall width is critical as get too wide and the transport needs a pilot vehicle. Overall width includes the boat cradle.

I don't know where you want to off load the boat or even if this applies to you at all, but I suggest when you are finding out costs to ask if there are nearby off-loading areas which would prove to be cheaper. For example, these can cost more: having a route that meant the truck being caught in busy traffic or off-loading where a hire crane needs to be brought in but has to come a long way. Sometimes cheaper to put the boat in near where you want it and towing or motoring the rest of the way.

All the best with ya planning.

Hi Frank

I had Egret II transported from Middle Harbour to lake Mac about 6 years ago for about $700, maybe less ? by Porta Slip . Width wasn't a problem.

Frank,

I did move Seaka by road using Amy Boat Haulage from Caringbah in Sydney.

Cost me $5 a km, but that was back in 2005.

Picked up at a boat ramp like any runabout and launched the same way.

Hope that helps.

Hey Phillip, how did they do that? I am just trying to picture it. Did they just have a big boat trailer the right size and back it down the ramp until you had enough water to bring Seaka onto it then get hauled out and driven away? I've been thinking of the boats I have seen perched up on flat-bed semis but it sounds like that is not needed for a Top Hat.

Troppo,

Go to Gallery, top left of Portal page.

Select SEAKA in the Members Top Hats.

Go to third page for a series of photos.

:D :D

Too easy!
Phillip.

Thanks everyone. Just had a quote from Yarringa to Dromana this is about a 40 minute trip $1000, that's crane onto their truck at marina, my cost $240, and they will transport and crane off here at Dromana with their crane into my cradle.Sound fair.
