Hi there, Just after some guidance on where i can buy the lower pintle bearing/thrust washer. It looks like a flat washer made from nylon or similar. Many thanks all. Jeff.

Just make one out of a 10mm plastic cutting board Jeff.
Just make sure you have 2x 100mm x M8 and 2x 110mm x M8 SS bolts available
if you have to replace them when you remove the cast bronze rudder shoe.
There is no pressure on this washer, only the turning movement.
Phillip.

Thanks Phillip. BTW I am now the owner of a Mark 1, named Blue Bottle, previously Miss Phoebe. I am trying to get her back into a sailing condition that will satisfy the insurers, new chainplates seem to be the base requirement.

I was also wondering if anyone had a history of the boat? It would be great to connect and chat. Best Jeff.

That sounds strange. Better post some photos of the chain plates before you do anything.
I have never heard of chain plates failing on a TH,
Some people have reinforced them, but I don't know why.
Have you done the Top Hat survey?
PS have you joined the Facebook site?
Phillip.
