New Fuel Tank

Hi all,
Just bought a new tank to replace my old rust one ,the new one is plastic with fill point and one outlet ,here is my question can I put in a "t" piece in the feed line to take the fuel return line or do I have to make a new hole in the tank to take the returning fuel back to the tank ?
Another project I'm looking advice on ,was thinking of taking the wall down around the head ( not the one under the mast ) just the one adjacent to the sink and the one aft of the bowl , with the wall away leaving the toilet where it is making a cushion to cover from the top of the ice box and back over the toilet .It would give much more light and even make the toilet accessible for normal size people ,could have a curtain to give privacy when required

The return fuel line may have to go into the top of the tank, that's where mine is.

The toilet walls will not be structural, so that should be OK. Will definitely open up the cabin.

G'Day Rod, you have to take the return line back to the top of the tank. That return line contains gases and crap that gets past the injectors when the engine fires and also warms the fuel in the tank. If you put a T in the line I think you would be recirculating fuel around the engine and not getting rid of it.
That return line is important, a diesel Mechanic that ran a course for us said he had a boat that would stop every 20 minutes because there was no return line.

Depends on your donk Rod. On my Yanmar 2QM15 the fuel is returned from the injectors to the top of the secondary fuel filter. I suggest you consult the workshop manual for your diesel.

You have to have return line seperate from fuel pickup if you hook into pick up injection pump will start getting air and stop if connectedto fuel pickup

The tank will need a breather pipe as well. You might be able to make the connections required through the filler cap.
