harnesses

Hi all
Am planning a trip north around xmas time (hope to be back in time for the sydney raft up though), just wondering where;

A) you have your strong points (anchor points) for harnesses in the cockpit (and what you have behind them for reinforcement purposes)
B) what do you have set up for securing when venturing forward of the cockpit whilst underway, ie a line or webbing or such running to the foredeck

I wont be sailing alone but given the probable crew's limited experience and the difficulty involved with retrieving someone from overboard am going to insist that both of us wear a harness and are clipped in at all time

I just use a very solid handle that is bolted below my main sheet traveller(mk11) and would rig jacklines as well if I was making a serious passage.

Hey Dan,

I have three harness points in the cockpit, all with solid timber re-inforcing inside. I've not actually used them, but the previous owner said he had. I had some jacklines rigged for my last trip, but it was never rough enough to worry about using them.

It's worth looking up and learning how to "heave to", as in "stall" the boat. It's great if someone goes over, but in fact, that shouldn't ever happen if you're careful and use the "one hand for you and one for the boat" rule.

Evening Dan,

I run a yellow 1" nylon flat jack line from the stern up to the anchor Bollard and back down the other side.

I also have two anchor points (ring bolts) at the hatch which allows me to get to the sink without unclipping.

I had this made up by our local sail maker. I usally use two clip on straps as I sail alone and have two harnesses.
This allows me two unhook and move around while still having the other strap hooked up. I usally go forward with
the stap hooked back to the harness. This means I cannot fall over board as the line is too short. I hope
