Mark 1's. Height of fixed boom above deck?

Hi All Mark Oners,

I'm just about to pluck the mast out for re-rigging and maintenance etc.

One thing I have to fix is the boom mounting on the mast.
At present I can adjust the verticle postion of the boom,
but I now need to fix it so that I can bring all the other halyards etc back to the cocpit.

What I need is the dimension from the deck to the underside of your booms please.

Hope to do the work early December or January.

Phillip, why fix the gooseneck? If you are running all halyards back to the cockpit, they will run through blocks and have enough of a tail so that if you do lower the gooseneck, there should still be enough tail to cope.

Mine is adjustable too, but I've never needed to move it, the halyard is enough to get tension on the tack. All my lines go to the cockpit. Best thing in my opinion would be to set the mast where it's not going to whack you on the head, providing you have enough uphaul to get the head of the main up to the top and get tension.

At the moment my gooseneck is free to rise and fall and has never been fixed in any way.

My rigger in fact has told me that it is set up incorrectly, hence the need to at least be able to fix it in the track.

I realize the mainsail luff will have some say in where the gooseneck should be fixed but wondered at what height others had fixed theirs.
