Just keeping this on top in the hope of getting a few more boats to the Basin on the 17th.

Brad, we were heading over to the Basin to visit you yesterday (Sat) afternoon but it was such a nice breeze that my crew voted to go out to sea to circumnavigate an LPG gas ship that was anchored 5 n.miles off Barrenjoey instead. We had a wonderful spinnaker run back to Lion Island, touching 7 knots on occasions. Hope your weekend went well also.

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark ,

I think I may have seen Storm Petrel , late Saturday Afternoon . Moored at the North / Eastern side of the Basin , just before nightfall , she looked impressive in the diminishing light !!!

I had a great weekend that included raising both Head / Mainsail and sailing back to Lovett Bay on Sunday afternoon , this may seem a rudimentary process for forum members , though a great triumph for a person that has not been involved with boats for over 15 years , skiboats that is . On my way back to Lovett Bay , I met Woodsy hard at the helm of his Mk1 around Pittwater. Although my Mk1 is currently not set up for single handed sailing , which I will endeavour to transform . Having had such a successful weekend sailing , i am now more then impressed with the power of the wind , and the speed it generates our Top Hats to .

Looking forward to meeting up with Top Hat Forum Members 16-17 November .

Also , the Gentleman that rescued me while I was in a spot of bother , by towing me out into the main body of water , in his beautiful wooden classic sailboat . I wholeheartedly thankyou for the assistance , that was greatly needed at that time from your wife , and yourself . You have my details , so let me repay you by buying , and sharing a beer with you in the near future . BG

After my 30 sec. chat with Brad as we passed yesterday, my wife took the tiller while I jumped in the tinny to pickup fish'n'chips from Palm beach.
Back on the water I could'nt see her.
I passed Barrenjoey & saw her off Lion Island. 2 metre swell made me return to Pittwater.
The furler had stuck & she was in the swell & wind b4 she knew it. Took her an hour to sort it & return for me.
We spent the night in Refuge after having the tinny surfing up behind us all the way there on its tether.
Conditions lovely Tue. morn so sailed into Pearl beach & dropped anchor for leisurely brekky/lunch at the cafe. Excellent.
Pretty good run back to Elvina bay with the genoa poled out opposite the main. Home by 4pm.

Not sure if was us you saw Brad. We sailed back in from way outside about 5pm on Saturday afternoon with a red, white and blue kite up. We dropped it near Lion Island before heading back, close hauled towards Brisbane Waters. Look forward to meeting you on the 17th.

Cheers,
Mark

Only two weeks to go before the Basin (Pittwater) get together.....Do will still only have four boats coming? Some may stay overnight and others to meet at 12.30 pm on Sunday the 17th Nov for a raft up and possible social sail around Lion Island And back in the afternoon.
