Hi Rod,
I have a Suzuki DF6 single cylinder 4 stroke.
Did a lot of research before I bought it.It has a 60 watt charger (option) and the biggest cubic capacity of all the single six hp 4 strokes.
To get it sitting vertical I had to add about 12mm to the back of the mounting board and that meant I had to remove the lifting handle bolted onto the rear of the motor to get clearance inside the transom.
I changed the prop for the one from the DF4 to get the right pitch to let the motor get into the right rev range. With the original prop it would only get to about half revs.
Also plugged the exhaust vent hole to stop being gassed in the cockpit. Still starts and runs just the same.
The internal tank holds a bit over a litre and that gives over one hour of motoring at about 4 knots. I have a bigger ferry tank with the usual priming bulb etc for more serious work like going through the Rip!
It has done 260 hrs in the last 7 years and has dragged along in the water for 4000 miles. The tilt bearings wore out so I cast new ones in situ from epoxy and high strength filler. Very snug now.
Can take a picture and send it if you like?
Cheers,
Tom
