Take a look at that Austral 20. You will see that compared to a T/H Mk 1, apart from headroom, the big difference is stowage space. With a trailer sailer the best is to spend a weekend or more on the boat, then it reduces the relative set-up time. From Broken Hill you could do week long holidays, and in-between be working on the boat from the ease of having it at home. It is also possible to leave a trailer sailer on a mooring, and just bring it home when you want to do maintenance.

I guess it is an option if you cannot live on the coast. You will find any trailer sailor a lot flightier than a Top Hat but it would have advantages for you.

Hi Gents ,

As my interest lay in cruising the Hawkesbury and trips surrounding Sydney in relative comfort , Top Hat seems to be coming out on top as far as opinions go . With my young children , they will be small enough for the next decade , before they become teenagers for the space onboard a TH to be more then sufficient , and I wouldn't want a much larger vessel anyway . As for a trailer Sailor , I see they suit my needs right now , though not going forward. ...

Just noticed on Gumtree a Mark 2 at Newport ( Sydney's Northern Beaches ) NSW , requiring a bit of work for $4500 . Bit of a fixer up for somebody quick enough maybe ??
