Hi All
I remember reading a couple of comments from members in regard to rumours of Top Hats circumnavigating. Well it's not a rumour, it is true in the case of one I know.
The couple were Ian and JAn Mitchell, and they were members of my club, the Coastal Cruising Club. I think it was in the early to mid eighties. Can't remember the name of the boat, I think it was Caprice. They actually had two children born to them while away, one of them was in Durban in South Africa.
There was another one which sailed the PAcific and Canada by a fellow called Alan Nebauer. He also sailed in the 1994-95 BOC Challenge. (Not in the Top HAt !!) In was pretty much a standard boat but he did add an inner forestay and running backstays.
Regards
Paul
