Hi all,
My wife and I have just purchased a Top Hat after looking at a number of similar sized boats. I was delighted to find this site today and have learnt a great dealabout Top Hats by reading the comments you have all made.
I think it is a MK II being built in 1982-three windows with the toilet forward under the vee bunks. it has an outboard set in a well (it was at Attwells, and is the boat mentioned in some of your members comments). The surveyor reported that it required rerigging for insurance purposes, which we have just had done. The mast was removed using a nifty A frame and 2 people only.
Overall we are rapt in it, having our first sail on Saturday-had to wait until the rigging was replaced- it sailed beautifully and was easy for the two of us to manage-limited sailing experience! We are looking forward to doing some overnight trips/cruises.
Any advice members could provide regarding care/maintenance etc would be greatly appreciated,
Bra

The Top Hat with the heads in the v birth is a model mark 2a . I have one and find it gives a little more room in the main cabin and a longer quarter birth to starboard.

I have already joined (some time ago) as bombproof Mattman (they didn't offer many choices for names).

I don't have a boat but have learnt a tremendous amount from perusing this site. Fantastic resource and seems to be flourishing with new members.

Congrats!!

Is that the boat called Sea Lady? If it is, I saw it around January. I remember it being quite a pretty boat. Well done!!

Can you post some pictures??

Yes it is Sea Lady.
We are very happy with it, having a fantastic sail on it off Cronulla in
15-20 knot NE on Saturday. It sails beautifully!
I will try to post photos of it on the site as soon as I learn the
technology!
Brad

Thanks for your reply Brad,

I actually made an offer on Sea Lady and then realised that living in the mountains, we wouldn't sail her as much as we would like. She has a beautiful interior and one of the best layouts (in my opinion) for top hats. I look forward to seeing the pics.

Have fun.
