Thankyou for that, any pics you have would be great, also any other history you might have, and the origin of the name if you know.

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike

You have rather a large Spray Hood on your boat. How do you operate the
winches / mainsheet etc with this up?

Regards

sorry about the duplication in my last message. I wasnt aware my first effort had actually been posted last time I tried and I didnt check!
We bought mirandis in Sydney in about 93, through Gladesville bridge marina. She had been owned by a father and son, but not used much due to illness. The interior was really good but the outside was typical of a boat ignored for ages , (chalky deck, grey hand and toerails cracked dodger etc). We had her brought up by truck from sydney to ballina where I could do all the things advised in the survey. seacocks, hoses. lifelines, lots of minor things.Originally she had a suzuki 2 stroke 8 but it was really noisy so we put a honda in which was great, but heavy. After having her at Ballina for a year or so we moved her to Yamba where we weekended on her. Our young son about 7 or 8 then loved the quarterberth, and mucking around in the tender. We did only limited coastal sailing in her because of limited time and my difficulty finding anyone to sail with who didnt get seasick, but we sailed around yamba a lot and did the odd race. she needed some wind to get moving and at 25 knots went pretty well, but was no light air flyer.
she had been reinforced under the traveller when I got her, hence the panel in the lining. We put the floor mounted compass and a fishfinder in, electric pressure pump and odds and ends, but nothing major, until finally a tax bill forced her sale to a fellow at grafton I think John Pullenger.
A great boat, with as much space as a Dunc29 or compass 28, and really useable. I have a larger boat at present, but always eye off tophats whenever I see them and would rather like another to sail around moreton bay. I will try to scan and send the old photos if my computer allow me that small indulgence.
I think Mirandis was the name of a greek goddess, as we looked it up at the time we purchased her. I also had a small plate engraved with her details, which we put on the port side somewhere. Is it still there?
Would love to see her again, and will try when we eventually get up north later this year.
