you are most welcome but there are probably more masts down your way and it would be more benefit to contact your local rigger and get to know him.
Nothing is getting done until at least next week with the weather. The rigger, Bryan Phillips is really helpful, so are most others. Have a chat to them.
By the way, have you been hanging around the local boat yard?
Can I also suggest you don't put your personal numbers and details on web sites for all to see, it is best to use the private mail system to pass those details. Can I suggest you delete your numbers from your last post?

My mast was taken off to be repainted and rerigged by professionals last Wednesday.
And it looked just like your photo.

No gold coin underneath so am hunting for a 2011 coin to put under when it gets restepped.

The riggers said that they were going to replace all the bolts and nuts as they were probably still original and some things broke as they were being removed. So quite a lot will be getting replaced.

They needed a hammer, screwdriver, pliers and wrench to get them undone. Lots of hammering as quite a bit had siezed.

Also apparently the steps on the mast are powder coated and would be more complicated to leave on so these are staying off. They had to remove them to strip, sand blast the mast.

So I won't have steps on the mast anymore.
So nothing for the halyard to get tangled in every day.

Does a Top Hat sail faster with a freshly painted mast?

good to hear from you!
How are they treating the tabernackle (Mast Step) rust? Are they cold gal-ing it or epoxy painting it?
I think its good to remove the mast every so many years. The clansman had similar problems with parts frozen and corrosion.
How did they remove the mast? Any photos?
Hope all goes well.
At least you know you have been dilligent in preventing a disaster.
I'm tempting fate, I'm not putting a coin under the mast, my boat is green and the name ends in "e", the trip to Gt Keppel was started on a friday, best trip we've had!
But just to be safe I'm going to turn to port 3 times while drinking 3 glasses of rum standing on 1 foot.

Here are some photos of the mast coming off.

Sydney Rigging Centre did the removal.
Needed 3 blokes, 2 more mature who used a ladder and one young bloke who is part monkey who climbed the mast and did not need a ladder for anything. He could jump around anywhere.

I was expecting a big crane but they used something they fitted to the bull bar on the front of a 4WD and then just block and tackle.

The hardest part for them was undoing everything. A lot was siezed.

They have been trying to talk me into replacing my furler. I did ask them as the one I have does not have a cage and the line gets tangled especially when goosewinging. But an extra $2400 is still something I have to think about. They say it is the best. But I did not win the $30million last weekend.

Now she is naked.

The harbour bridge mast step did get unscrewed eventually.
2 of the nuts were behind timber work in the cabin so they had to break the bolts.

Next photos will be of her looking beautiful.

Re The coin it must be the most valuable coin at the time of launching and same date ? Eg: Egret II was launched in 1973 and has a 50 cent piece in the mast step .
