Absolutely get a survey.

Mine picked up a problem with the rudder which was not visible till the boat was slipped. I would not have known what I was looking at anyway. Basically the rudder was full of water.

Identifying this problem reduced the price and as it turned out it was not as expensive to fix as originally thought so this was a bonus and more than paid for the survey.

A boat I was looking at previously, the suveyor, took me aside and just said "Don't buy it" then explained in more detail.

Have fun boat shopping. I think it the best sort of shopping you can do.
