Recently I bought MK3 Top Hat and I think that my experience will help those that are considering buying one and how much will cost it at the end.
Of course all depends at what standards want the buyer have the boat ready to sail and his/her priorities.
I, like to have a yacht that I will be sure that is safe and capable to taking me on any voyage that my experience and fitness can do.
THE ESSENTIALS
The boat has to be surveyed and insured.
Hull and rudder inspected cleaned and painted
Standing rigging has to be done not more than 5 years ago and properly done. U bolts/chainplates including
Halyards replaced
Mainsail new or as new condition including riffing gear
Furler and headsail also as above
Winches, clutches and othe deck hardware restored or replaced
Chain. anca and ropes in good and safe condition.
Motor in sound condition.
Electrics and lights safe and working.
Radio and deepsounder fitted.
I do not add navigation like a chart plotter because a tablet with the excellent apps available are sufficient
The cost of the above items/requirements can add anything between $5000 to $8000 to the original purchasing price.
Then is coming the interior of the boat were another few thousand dollars can be added.
IMO a Top Hat that is up to my standards can easily cost $14000 depending the original purchasing cost.
Would be interesting what othe members think and if those potential TH buyers have taken all that points into consideration.
