Anti-Fouling

Anti-Fouling

Postby Murray Raff » Sun May 20, 2018 4:02 pm

Hi Everyone! I’m just wondering if anyone would like to share their thoughts on anti-fouling? I’m looking at Norglass Topflight. Does anyone have any experience with that one? The alternatives seem to be International (eg Awlcraft – formerly Coppercoat) and Altex. All advice will be most welcome! Kind regards, Murray

Most of us use Altex No5 Murray.

You need one 4lt tin to put two coats on a Top Hat. Most manufacturers recommend three coats if applied with a roller.

Two coats last about 18 months max. I personally put on two tins [4 coats] and that lasts about three and a half years.
I save 2 slippings a one tin of paint when I put on the 4 coats. Just done Seaka, last in 2014 and don't expect to slip again till around 2022 :D

Thanks very much for the benefit of your experience again Phillip!!! I think there really is economy in your approach - while she's on the slip it's easier to put on another coat or two than bring her back next year! Thanks again for your advice!
