Replacing Standing Rigging.

Just bought a 1986 Top Hat M3. I want to replace the rigging what would be a rough price for this.

Hey Andrew, Congratulations.

Rigging is an open ended question. It may be best to see if you can get a couple of opinions from a couple of local riggers. It may be that the standing rigging is fine.

There was one Top Hat here who had original 1960s rigging, and so long at it's not over-stressed is perfectly fine.
I replaced all my wires, replaced the in-mast wiring conduit and antenna cables, plus added a running topping lift about 5 years ago. That was almost $3.5k. The guy I used was the most expensive in Pittwater at the time though. Note, that this didn't include removing and checking, or replacing the chainplates, but it did include removing and repairing the bow roller and forestay chainplate.

Some of the guys here have done their own, which is far less expensive, but time consuming.

If you're talking running rigging, it's only the cost of the lines from your local chandler. If you did both headsail, main and spinnaker halyards, head and mainsheets and spinnaker sheets, as well as the sundrys like boom vang and topping lift etc, it shouldn't cost you much more than say five hundred. It's easy to do providing you're careful how you attach the new to the old before pulling them through.

Was told there is a guy in Gold Coast that does stays up cheap. Just use slip/local crane with boat to dock then remove and take them to him

Prob $1500ish to re stay otherwise

Thanks for the advice. Just posted that I might have the one if that falls through which I hope doesn't Lol. Might have to look again in Sydney. Anyhow eill let you know.
