Lake Mac get together 4 -5th Feb 2017

Seaka and Blue Moon are at Fame Cove, we are hoping to get away early tomorrow morning and make the 1500 bridge opening, but it's more likely we will make the 1700 bridge (I believe there is no bridge opening at 1600 for peak hour).
We will then most likely come up to Croudace.
Ps, I've got a spare sacrificial pair of kitchen tongs onboard in case Miker hasn't kicked the habit, I've also taken the Stanley Rogers off just to be sure, also decided to remove the Grand piano at the last minute.

As I am self employed I am hoping the witch of a boss is not looking and I will be able to skive off work early.

Well that was neat. I didn't end up sailing, took my old bike instead. Croudace Bay wharf is a great base for these kind of events. Plenty of space and the bowlo food is OK.

Hot ride up was probably better than the alternative, motoring up into a nor'easter, and going home just after the rain meant not having to travel in the heat on Sunday.

Hope all those with boats stayed cool and breezy on Sunday. Looked like a nice day for a sail, if you had shade.

4 Top Hats, Seaka, Blue Moon, Sea Lady and Oberon II, plus Paripa (Bear's gorgeous Swanson 38) Lovely to see Keith (Swift) again after 7 years.... yep, I recall the first Basin Raft up was not long after we moved to Careel Bay in 2010. I missed the fellas from Seabreeze who'd left before I arrived.

If this is seen as an enjoyable activity for everyone, we could even make it an annual event and put a stake in the ground for a particular weekend each year.

Wonderful to meet up with everyone.
Very handy that the meet up spot was 1 bay away from my new mooring.

Bear won the "Least distance traveled" award - his mooring was about 40 metres? from the wharf. And the best stocked on board liquor cabinet.
Phil on "Seaka" won the spotting idiots on the water award.
Shaun on "Blue Moon" won the most covered up sailor award. I have never seen anyone so completely covered for the 'slip' part of Slip Slop Slap.
Tony "Oberon" won the "Bring your partner along" award. His lovely wife Helen was the only partner to turn up. Even if only for the dinner.

Great Weekend, had a couple of serious storms pass through Saturday night which made it a little bumpy .But on the whole really enjoyable raft-up


finally put a post to a face and meet new members and caught up with old ones ? Not you Greg , we meet and great lots !

It was good to catch up with everyone and to welcome Di to the Lake Mac.
The storm was pretty bad but in the club all we could see was a bit of rain.

Affraid I'm a bit naive (?). I'm from Newcastle and they asked me to bring some ice to the party. I got 3 bags of Bells pure ice and they looked at me funny. Did I miss something?

After the house, Felicite is the next project.

Fantastic weekend, and Thank You to all who attended
It was nice to meet Tony and Helen - Oberon II, who tied up to the jetty seconds before the rain.
Big effort from Keith and Miker driving up all the way from Sydney, two thumbs up!
Yep, we just saw the rain across the bowling greens, sitting in the club with good company, cold beers and good priced nice food.
Big thanks to the Lake locals for their hospitality, Bear for the lend of his mooring, Greg I ended up with what was left of the third bag of ice on Sunday and Di for her fruit platters( moved on from pavlova's to fruit platters they were awesome!).
On Sunday Phil and I followed Di to Bolton Pt, and she helped re-provision with fuel. Seaka and Blue Moon stayed at the protected Bolton Pt that night, Monday we went to Wangi for lunch and some air-con, watched the super bowl although we had no idea who was playing. Monday evening we went through the bridge and stayed on a mooring before (mainly) motoring to Port Stephans on Tuesday, with strong winds forecast near home for Wednesday evening when we would be getting there we decided to have a rest day (of course the strong wind warnings were cancelled and it would have been great sailing on Wednesday ) never mind we are currently in Fame Cove looking for weather to continue.
