When I was looking at the forecast winds and waves yesterday, it seemed the wind was not on a favorable angle to head straight across. It was going to be shifting so he should get some better day's sailing. Still, it is a long crossing.

It would seen that the Northerly course is not the favoured side. He has lost a deal of easting. Hopefully he will get a lift from the small change of direction later today.
Now I am not there and only surmising, it is a long tiring trip and they must rest to remain alert.
I hope that he has chosen the right tack though at the present it may not look the best at all.
There is also a low approaching and it may catch him up.
God speed to him. will be watching with keen attention.

Based on "spotify" Rob has covered 569 nm or 1053k not all in the direct line.
Highest days run was 158 nm! But the rest very mediocre against the wind.
Lowest run 25nm on day 4.

Yup, interesting to me.

Them numbers are a bit much for me to understand as I can't count that many on my fingers but it does impress me. : )

Seems like some days he has had winds from a good angle and others he is just waiting for the wind to move to a better quarter.

It's a very tricky section of coast for sailing. I know looking at the wave forecasts that 6+ metre waves are regular through there. While the Top Hat can handle it, the feeling of going up and down like in a fast lift all day and all night would get tiring.

Where do you get these figures from mate?, unless Phil posts the google map with the red pointer & a squiggly line, im none the wiser. Do you have a link?, cheers

FYI Shaun I see that (in a direct line) there are some 166 NM to go to Streaky bay.
While the winds have not been heavy, Rob has had a rough trip with the wind direction.
I note too that it is not going to improve till some time after 00.15 hrs local time Monday when there should be more northerly in it.
