Rob seems to be doing Ok, winds are hard on the starboard bow I think.

It's about 180 nautical Miles Troppo, reckon Rob has about 2 days to go from this morning.

Thanks Phillip for keeping this thread going, I've just dropped the pick at Port Gregory which is just a small jetty inside a fringing reef, pretty good protection though. I think there's a shop and fuel ashore but yet to go walkies. I STILL HAVE LEAKS DAMMIT. it was a bit fresh out there on one night and I got wet. Well I've made it past the Zuytdorp Cliffs thank God, that was probably more a phycological barrier for me than anything else after reading how it got it's name and all the other maritime misshaps along the coast here. The prevailing southerlies are a pain I didn't wait for a northerly window as they a pretty rare and we wanted to move on. so a two day window with some east and some sou' west was the plan but mostly southerly bang on the nose. I motored for about ten hours into it and got a massive headache listening to the mower and breathing the fumes. Now I'm having a coffee and about to cook some bacon and eggs, on that subject one of my burners is U/S and I can't get a replacement so it looks like it might be a new stove come Perth. I will be fitting gimbles this time so I can at least eat hot food and drink at sea.

Rob, interesting trip you are having. If getting a new stove - might be worth checking out the domestic origio 3000 and its gimbals. I like the system and don't think that the new maxies are of the same quality they used to be. we are very happy with our origio, having originally ordered got and then returned the maxie. Anyway cheers Peter

Rob, WRT breathing in the fumes, if your motor is in the well, there is the mod you can do where you take a pipe down from the exhaust relief ports down under the water level. It worked on my old Johnson, but dont know if it is appropriate for your motor. Made it a bit harder to start, but reduced the fumes in the cockpit considerably.

thanks Ian and Peter for the advice, I looked up the dometic and it is somewhat larger than the maxi I'll have to take some measurements but I don't think it will fit, do you a a photo of it in place? if you do maybe email it to me as it's hard to upload here size wise, rob.lovelace@yahoo.com.

I've seen that mod done on another boat in Darwin (24fter cruising the globe) I'll look into it and see what I can do.

Well has said that plan A was to head for Jurien Bay some 130 nm from Port Gregory.

I think plan B as come into action as his last report shows him heading for the Wallabi Group in the Houtman Abrolhos,

this is only 30 nm from Port Gregory.

No Houtman Abrolho's for Rob, just getting a bit of a better sailing angle. This at 0800 hours today.

Seems like he plans to be in Jurien Bay [bottom loop to land] late tonight or early tomorrow [Monday]

Next stop Perth?
