G'Day,
I thought you might be interested in this little job.
I had to replace the bearing in the wind sensor. This is the 2nd bearing I have replaced. THe last one fell apart.
The bearigns are no longer available from Autohelm Aust and the arm is obsolete. A replacement arn is about $500 and reads 25% low. It's a different design.

THe bearings are available through any leadiing bearing supplier like CBC or in my case Bearing Service Corp, BSC Motion Technology. THey are about $12 ea. plus postage.

The bearings push off and there are normally two small circlips but I lightly centre popped the bearing area on the shaft and applied Loctite. All the components are easily hand assembled. THe bearing is a bit tight at the moment, needs a near gale to get it going, but it will free itself up with use.

Good for you Greg. Many bearings & seals are just generic types obtainable from SKM etc, at a fraction of OEM's price. Same goes for belts.

Well done! How did you know what the right replacement bearing was?

I just measured the bearing and rang a supplier.
They did the rest.

A bit expensive but it is a small order.

You're kidding, right? I don't think that is expensive. You saved yourself having to spend a heap on new equipment. And you got the piece using the phone so you didn't even spend a tankful of fuel driving around everywhere hunting for it.
