Ideas for bow end of v-berth?

I am wondering what other folk have done with the most forward section of their v-berth. Mine is just an ugly hole with a cover. What have you done to make it useful? And attractive?

The hole is the original sail locker. Just make a prettier cover for it if you want to beautify it.
