Hi All,

I'm looking at installing a Simrad TP22 tiller autopilot.

Has anybody any experience with the TP22 or has someone got a TP10?

Would appreciate any feedback.

Steve,

I was looking at the ST1000 also.

What I haven't got is info on how the Top Hat responds to the different tiller autopilot
models available in the lower cost range.

There is also the matter of interfacing GPS's.

Many thanks

Phillip,

I have found the ST1000+ handles the Top Hat well. No problems with it so far. I can interface it with my Magellan GPS via a serial cable using NMEA.

Interfacing the GPS, Tiller Pilot and Wind Instrument with a laptop requires a Multiplexer.

As far as I know the Simrad TP10 can't be interfaced with a GPS.

Steve,

Thats exactly what I wanted to know.

The ST1000 and the TP10 are about the same, but as you said the TP10 cannot interface with a GPS.

The real difference was in the displacement recommendations and the ST1000 is just on the max displacement for a Top Hat and this is what I was interested in re 'could it handle it'.

Good to know also that the ST1000 will work with a Magellan as I have a Magellan FX324 chartplotter.

Thanks Steve.
