Anyone using a whisker pole or do you get by with a spinnaker pole? I thought wahen I was mucking about trying to get my 8'6" pole to pole out my (furling) No2 that it would be nice to have a dedicatd telescopic whisker pole on board. Anybody using one?

Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark

Have been using spinakker pole but have considered keeping my eyes out for a windsurfer mast to cut to size... never really got motivated enough to actually do it though...

Hi Mark

I found my spinnaker pole to be too heavy and awkward, so got a whisker pole, 2.8m long, from aluminium spar with a smaller cross-section and parrot beaks either end with a release line running from end to end. I've also got an uphaul line attached by a SS ring - works really well in short-handed races when invariably the wind shifts around and gybing is required. I couldn't find a commercially available solution (except Whitworths - they have an extension-style pole that would suit, but it's pricey) so had mine made up by a guy at Forestville, Sydney.

Cheers
