Getting prepped to do my first oil and filter change on my Yanmar 1GM10 engine. For those forum members with a similar engine, do you use an original yanmar oil filter or is there a suitable after market filter that can be used without causing any problems? Thanks in advance.
Cheers

I have a 2GM and buy Fleetguard equivalents to the Yanmar oil and fuel filters. Do a bit of googling and you will find the type numbers. I do have them somewhere but not on this laptop. I am devoted to avoiding overpriced OEM parts where there are viable aftermarket equivalents. If you want more info on my tight arsed solutions to parts, pm me.
Cheers, Graeme

Hi Graeme, Had to smile when I read your comment, '....tight arsed solutions'. Exactly the type I look for also
Will follow-up on fleetguard. If I get stuck, I'll PM you. Thanks again. Neil

Let my fingers do the googling and came up with a couple of equivalents from Fleetguard and Baldwin. During my searches, I found differing Yanmar PNs for the oil filter so sent an enquiry to Yanmar (in Netherlands I think). Within a couple of days, received an email from a Yanmar agent (Minards Diesel) in Newcastle confirming PN fitted to my engine. Decided to pay them a visit and ended up buying a service kit for my model engine. The kit contained oil filter, fuel filter and gasket, and water pump impeller and gasket. Likely a bit overpriced but cheaper than buying the parts individually. Will use an equivalent filter next oil change.
I can't use the Yanmar fuel filter and gasket (PNs 104500-55710 and 2431-000440). If anyone can use them, I'll send them on for the cost of postage.
