Hi just trying to fix my new Top Hat after a forestay breakage at a top swage point.[1ft from the top point.
Does anyone know how I should get the new forestay up through the furler without disassembling the furler?

What happened? Did the mast come down? Sounds like you need all the standing rigging checked/replaced.

Ok, but what have you got keeping the mast up?

Really concerned for your mast now Steve

using the shroud for the furler at the moment to stabilise the mast, and the shorter ,spinaker lift shroud.

The forestay was crimped /swaged about a foot from the top. The loose winging of the furler had essentially been swinging freely from the top and therefore broke the forestay just above the swage point.[my mistake, for not keeping the shroud very tight in the first instance]
My task now is to rewire the forestay, either in dock or lift the mast out at Williamstown, probably Hobson's Bay yacht club.

Steve you will need a rigger, anybody down there with good references from other Top Hatters?

The rigger may be able to do it insitu, ask as you may not have to pluck the mast. :D
