G'day all ,could any one tell me if it is possible to still buy a mast foot , in saying this i mean the alloy piece that has all the pulleys in it that sits on the harbour bridge, also could somebody tell me if this interesting little piece of gadgetry should come off with the mast or stay on top of the harbour bridge when one removes the mast ,there is so much corrosion i don't know if i should start digging to free the mast foot or work from the top down , any info would be very helpful
Cheers Taunto

Good evening to you all ,regarding the mast foot ,all has been revelled,i removed the harbour bridge and took it to my workshop where i was more comfortable working on it, after much huffing and puffing and using various solutions i was able to remove the mast sole from the housing,i then proceeded to work to free the pulleys that were so badly encased in salt alloy corrosion ,the total time taken to do this little job was 4 hours and i am so pleased to get everything out without much damage, the mast sole has been re welded and two wheels have been replaced. The reason that this had occured was that a previous owner had placed a piece of ply under the sole which blocked up the drain holes . Check yours see if you can wiggle a piece of 3mm wire through about 100mm ,or pour water through it to see that it drains properly ,it is very disturbing to lift your mast and find the sole in this state.
