how to patch a sail?

Postby Troppo » Thu Dec 19, 2013 7:55 pm

I had my jib in the yard today, scrubbed it down with oxygen bleach (nappy wash) stuff. Noticed a 20 cent piece size hole in the shade strip up near the top, not the actual sail but the edge strip for when rolled on the furler. What's the best way to patch it?

[edit: just for interest: jib came off a furler, sail size: luff 9 m (29.5') leech 8.7 m (28.5') foot 4.6 m (15'). This is very similar to what Dplphin posted about sail size, bigger than a Mk 1 which Bear posted http://www.tophatyachts.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1327&p=7375&hilit=jib#p7375}

cheers

as it is only in the sunbrella material maybe just glue a patch on, but otherwise I'd probably take it to a sail maker and get them to fix is as it would be less than 50 bucks I'd reckon
